Your front door is the first thing people will see this holiday season before they enter your home. Spruce up your entrance way this Christmas with these festive door decorating ideas.

Vintage Sled Door Decor

Although wreaths can be gorgeous, hanging a vintage or antique sled is an excellent way to stand out this holiday season. Not only will it add extra charm to your door, but it may bring up fond memories to reminisce over. You can add a bright holiday ribbon, ornaments or sleigh bells for some homemade holiday flair.

Merry Mantelpiece

When you think of the holidays, a decorated mantel is a main focal point. Turn your door into your outdoor mantel by hanging a string of garland along the top of your door, letting it drape down the sides. Add a stocking to the center of your door and stuff it with holly and pine sprigs and top it off with a big fancy bow.

Winter Wonderland

Add a touch of White Christmas with a long garland wreath. First, frost your garland with artificial snow. Next, add holly berries or a ribbon for a pop of color. Finish by framing your doorway with two small planted Christmas trees that have a string of lights woven through them. Finish off, by spraying everything with a light layer of artificial snow.

Country Rustic

If want a rustic look, gather some small precut wood slices and arrange them on a classic round wire wreath. Glue your wood slices together and top with a berry and pine cone bow.

Double Door Decor

If you have a double front door, you can make a gorgeous wreath that encompasses both sides. Buy two pieces of garland (roughly the same length) or you can buy a large piece of garland and cut it in half. Decorate each side of the garland with your ribbon, bulbs or another embellishment. Bend the garland into a half of a circle and attach it to one side of your door. The second half of your garland will go on the opposite door, so it looks like your wreath splits in the middle when your door opens.

Figure Skating Front Door

Many people have old pairs of ice skates at home. Dust them off and turn them into a front door decoration. Fill your ice skates with greenery, holly, or any festive materials and top off with a red bow.

Playful Pastel Pinecones

Traditional green and red may not be a good fit for every home. Don’t be afraid to play around with pastel colors. Use a round wire wreath to make a gorgeous pinecone wreath. Dust your pinecones with artificial snow and add a pop of yellow or gold by painting walnuts and gluing them strategically around your wreath. Finish it off with a pretty yellow bow.

Picture Perfect

Repurpose an old frame for a picture perfect wreath. Pick out a medium or large frame and paint it a festive color like red, green or gold. Next, string a few shatterproof ornaments onto a piece of ribbon. Then, tie the ribbon so your bulbs cascade together and attach it to the back of your picture frame by the hook. Finally, attach a piece of ribbon and hang your frame on your door.

Christmas Bulb Wreath

To make a Christmas bulb wreath, buy a wreath frame and colorful bulbs. Add the bulbs to your wreath frame and glue them together until you have a beautiful full wreath.

Star Power

Create a star shaped holiday wreath to hang on your front door. First, buy a wire star shaped wreath from you local craft store and wrap your garland around the wreath.
If you want a more rustic look, take sticks and twine and bind them into a start shape to hang in the middle of your front door. Spruce branches also work well and will smell great all season long.

Spelling Out the Season with Letter Wreaths

For a quick front door hanging, buy letters and spell out Joy, Snow, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or any theme for the season. You can paint or decorate your letters any way you like and you can attach them to your door any way you want.

These festive front door decorations are sure to have all of your visitors talking this holiday season. Mix and match and have fun with these easy, fun front door decorations.
