Enjoy traditional music at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. You’ll find a banjo player, an old-time guitarist, a fiddle and dulcimer duo, contra dancing and a performance by the Old Bethpage Village Brass Band.
A 14-week RunSmart training program, conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club and the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration and finishes April 28 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. The program focuses on people who have some running experience and want to train for a long-distance race. Locations rotate among Old Bethpage, Eisenhower Park and Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh.
Leave modern conveniences behind and step back in time to see costumed docents prepare a holiday meal the way they would have in the late-19th century. The 1863 Thanksgiving celebration invites you to visit a kitchen in one of the historic homes at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, where you’ll find a beehive oven or an open fire doing the cooking and baking. Traditional fiddle music and historic stories add to the experience. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19, and also Nov. 25-26 ADMISSION $12 ($8 ages 5-12)
