Port Washington celebrates its nautical heritage with the HarborFest Dock and Craft Festival. Highlights include a craft fair with more than 90 vendors, a tall ship sail on the schooner SoundWaters and scenic cruises on a water taxi. Try your hand at paddling a kayak or a paddle board on Manhasset Bay. Back on land, you’ll find a children’s “fun park” with games, sports and science fun. There’ll also be a food court, and don’t forget to stop by the Tugboat Museum and see their new exhibit.

What started as a humble little gathering of friends during a blizzard in the boatyard parking lot in 2004 has turned into the largest real ale festival in the United States. Winter cold is the driving force behind the annual HarborFrost festival in Sag Harbor, 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. The outdoor festivities include an ice-carving demonstrations, ice sculptures along Main Street, fire jugglers, a soup supper ($5 a bowl) at Old Whaler’s Church and a Frosty Plunge at 2 p.m. At dusk, fire dancers and fireworks by Grucci will light up the harbor.

The public is invited to sample soups prepared by more than a dozen Port Washington restaurants, then vote for their favorite. Contestants include Wild Honey on Main, Toscanini, Finn MacCools and more. The Fine Wine and Food Festival debuts at NYCB Live’s Nassau Coliseum. More than 50 vendors present everything from beer openers and wine aerators, to food vendors selling seafood, grilled cheese, wontons and more.
