Pumpkins are a symbol of harvest time. During the fall many families head out east or
upstate to go pumpkin picking. The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Red Hook, NY is a
great place to experience history and fall fun. The hangar in Roosevelt Field contained
a museum showcasing WWI airplanes, but when it was converted into a shopping mall,
Palen bought 9 of the planes and brought them to the Aerodrome in 1958. During the
Fall Festival, pumpkins are even dropped from a plane to stimulate WWI bombs.
