Board a tram and take a behind-the-scenes tour of Belmont Park in the early morning hours. You’ll see live horses training on the track and then get up close to some thoroughbreds. Visit the paddock area and witness a starting gate demonstration, 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13. During the tour, stop and have breakfast at the Belmont Cafe in the Clubhouse. If you want to stick around for the day’s racing, you will have to exit the park and re-enter at 10 a.m., $5. (Free for tour and parking; breakfast is $12.95, $6 for ages 5 and younger)
