Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area
Join the South Shore Audubon Society on a bird walk on
Saturday, November 29, starting at 9 AM, From Sunrise
Highway in Rockville Centre, turn onto Long Beach Road,
traveling south. Proceed to Waukena Avenue and turn left.
From this point onward, there are brown signs directing
visitors to the sanctuary. Turn right onto Park Avenue (at
a traffi c light), then turn left onto Golf Drive. Continue
on Golf Drive to Slice Drive, turn right, and proceed one
short block into the sanctuary.
Hempstead Lake State Park
Join the South Shore Audubon Society on a bird walk on
Sunday, November 30, starting at 9 AM, From the Southern
State Parkway, take Exit 18 (Eagle Avenue) south to Field 3
(use second park entrance and make an immediate left turn.)
AMERICAN AIRPOWER MUSEUM
Dropping of the Roses
On December 7, 2025, American Airpower Museum hosts
the annual “Dropping of the Roses” Pearl Harbor Memorial
Ceremony conducted by the Long Island Air & Space Forces
Association (LIAFA). The American Airpower Museum
(AAM) has provided space for this event each year ever since
the museum opened its doors in 2000. December 7, 2025 is
the 84th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on the U.S. Navy
Fleet based at Pearl Harbor. The public is welcome to attend
our “Dropping of the Roses” Ceremony on December 7,
2025. FREE admission between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
After 12:00 p.m. $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans,
$12 for children 3 to 12. Children under 3 are FREE. Museum
members, active military/guard/reserves, FREE with ID.
(No tickets or pre-registration necessary.
Annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the American Airpower
Museum (AAM) will hold its Annual Holiday Pancake
Breakfast from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Folks will enjoy
pancakes with butter, maple syrup, sausages and beverages.
They can mix and mingle with Santa at a fun community
event for the entire family. Hangar 3 will be decked out in
Christmas decorations, plus there will be photo ops with
Santa! Breakfast is $20 for adults and $12 for children
(3-12) and includes admission plus Tram Rides for families
around the Hangar’s ramp. There will be three seatings, 9:00,
10:00 and 11:00 a.m. Reservations are required and given
on a fi rst come fi rst served basis. To reserve seats, folks can
book online by visiting our website: www.americanairpowermuseum.
org. Or call AAM at (631) 293-6398, Wednesday
through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They can also visit
the museum at Hangar 3, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale,
during business hours.
