LENTEN SEASON IN THE
ORTHODOX CHURCH
We invite you to worship with us during
Great Lent at Holy Trinity Orthodox
Church, 369 Green Avenue, East Meadow.
The more ancient form of the liturgy, the
Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great, is
celebrated at 9:30 AM (Hours at 9:00 AM)
every Lenten Sunday (from March 1 to March 29 this
year). Each of the Sundays of Great Lent has its own special
theme, and hymns of that day, as well as the sermon.
All services are conducted in English. A vegan coffee
hour follows the Sunday Divine Liturgy during Great
Lent. Services are also streamed on https://www.facebook.
com/htocem. The full liturgical schedule for Great

Bird walks led by a member of SSAS are
nearly every week, either Saturday or Sunday
morning from late August through early June. Walks are open
to the public and are free of charge. We especially encourage
youngsters to attend. all Walks 9:00 A.M.

We are looking for volunteers that would like to help
their community by planning community outreach
events in the Township of Oyster Bay. Plan events like
food drives, park cleanups, and more. New ideas are
always welcome.

MEADOWBROOK WOMEN’S INITIATIVE
an organization of mostly retired women with membership
spanning all of Nassau County with some in Suffolk and
Queens. MWI is an outgrowth of the National Brandeis
Women’s organization; we branched off into our own 501c(3)
in 2009, when we decided to keep our fundraising money on
LI, where we have all chosen to live for many years and where
there are so many lesser-known charities that need assistance.
We maintained the education component by connecting with
the then-newly established Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/
Northwell, which has been included in our by-laws.
