Fireside Chat on Horticulture
Th e Clark Botanic Garden, located at 193 I.U. Willets
Road in Albertson, will be hosting a “Fireside Chat” with
Jonathan M. Lehrer, PhD, titled “Houseplants Are Hot!”
on Sunday, March 1st at 1 PM. Dr. Lehrer is Chair of the
Urban Horticulture and Landscape Design Department at
Farmingdale State College. Join Dr. Lehrer as he discusses
basic tips to turn green even the brownest thumb. He
will cover dynamic new plants that are ‘trending’ online
and showing up everywhere in the magazines, television
commercials and even drugstores. Admission is $10 for

German Genealogy Group Meeting
Th e German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly
meeting at the Hicksville VFW Hall-Post 3211, located at
320 South Broadway (Route 107) in Hicksville, on Th ursday,
March 5th. An orientation session for beginners and newcomers
will be held at 7 PM and the regular meeting will begin

Grid Changes, Renaming and More” with presenter Th omas
MacEntee. Mr. MacEntee is a genealogy professional based
in the United States. He will review the history of street
naming and learn how to break down street address data.

Chinese Auction and Dinner
The DOE Club of New Hyde Park will be hosting their
annual Chinese auction and dinner at the Elks Lodge, located
at 901 Lakeville Road in New Hyde Park, on Tuesday,
March 10th at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM. A donation
of $25, with checks payable to the DOE of NHP, includes
auction tickets and dinner from soup to fortune cookies. A
