life. A DUI arrest

person’s finances. According
to Addiction Center, the average
cost of a DUI varies widely depending
on where a person is charged, ranging from $11,000
to $30,000. The costs associated with a DUI arrest include
fines and penalties once a case makes its way
through the courts, legal representation and increased
insurance premiums, which Addiction Center estimates
could be between $4,500 and $10,000. Individuals arrested
with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) well
above the legal limit of .08 also might be forced to pay
for an ignition interlock device (IID), which may cost
as much as $1,500. Even individuals who have their
charges dropped or who win an acquittal upon going
to trial are likely to pay a steep price, as Addiction Center
reports that first-time DUI defendants who earned an
acquittal or whose charges were dropped still spend an
average of $3,700 on attorney’s fees.

and visitors with Long Island’s
Revolutionary War.
Published by the Suffolk County 250th Planning
Committee, the passport titled Long Island’s Path to
Independence, A Revolutionary Historical Passport
serves both as an educational guide and a hands-on
experience. The free downloadable booklet can be
printed and carried to participating historical sites
across Suffolk County, where users can collect stamps as
they explore locations tied to the American Revolution.
