“Year of the Organ” – Concluding Recital by David Hurd

February 5, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

On Tuesday evening, February 5, 2019 at 7:30 p.m., St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Huntington Station will present concert organist David Hurd in a solo recital, concluding the church’s “Year of the Organ” series – celebrating the 50th anniversary of the church’s Casavant pipe organ built and installed in 1968.
David Hurd is widely recognized as one of the foremost concert organists, sacred music composers, and church musicians in the United States, as well as for his innovative, enthralling, and ever-evolving improvisation abilities. Now Organist and Choirmaster of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York City, he is a greatly sought-after composer of dozens of hymns, choral works, and organ works. Mr. Hurd is represented in North America exclusively by Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists, LLC.
The recital program will include works by Bach, Buxtehude, John Stanley, Jan Zwart, and two of his own compositions: “Four Spiritual Preludes” and “Toccata”, and will end with a thrilling improvisation.
St. Peter’s is located at 11 Ogden Court, Huntington Station. Admission is by donation (suggested $20). Any proceeds in excess of costs will go to the church’s fund for organ maintenance. A reception will follow the concert. For more information, please call 631.423.1013
